Ieva Laguna is a Latvian model, born in 1990. She is best known for her participation in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows.
Lagunas modeling career started in 2007 after Nils Raumanis, of DANDY model management, scouted her in the Latvian capital of Riga, during the MTV/B-day festival.
In 2008 Laguna signed with Women Management in Milan, and a year later she signed with Premier in London.
In 2009 Laguna debuted at the fall Christopher Kane show in London, where she also walked for Marios Schwab. She did 60 shows in London during her first season. She appeared in the fall issue of AnOther Magazine, photographed by Ben Weller. In August she was featured on the cover of Dazed and Confused, and in September she walked the spring Burberry, Alberta Ferretti, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, and Valentino shows in London, Milan, and Paris. She also modelled for the fall Zara catalogue, as well as for the Topshop holiday campaign.
In 2010 Laguna became one of the faces of Benetton, and renewed her contract with Topshop. In January she walked the Elie Saab couture show in Paris. In February she walked the fall Carolina Herrera, Dolce 7 Gabbana, Marni, Versace, Chloe, and Stella McCartney shows in New York, Milan, and Paris, and appeared in editorials in Interview and British Vogue. Throughout the spring and summer she appeared in editorials in Japanese Vogue, Russian Vogue and Spanish Vogue. In September she was opened the spring ADAM and Stella McCartney shows in New York and Paris. To round out the year she appeared on the cover and in an editorial in German Vogue, both photographed by Greg Kadel.
Early in 2011 Laguna appeared in editorials in Spanish Vogue and German Vogue, and in April she appeared on the cover of French Elle, photographed by Takay, as well as in a Flair editorial, photographed by Benjamin Lennox. She was also featured in a July Italian Vogue editorial, photographed by Camilla Akrans.
In her career, Laguna has walked in shows for a number of designers, including Christian Dior, Nina Ricci, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Carolina Herrera, Dolce & Gabbana, Michael Kors and Victoria’s Secret. She has also graced the covers of a number of fashion magazines, including Vogue Greece, Dazed & Confused Korea, Vogue Germany, Elle France, Marie Claire Italy and Rush magazine.
When Laguna was discovered she was resistant to the idea of becoming a model, as she was determined to be a doctor. She was a down-to-earth tomboy who had studied hard in school, never imagining life as a model. She maintains her grounded roots, and enjoys the ‘real’ food cooked by her mother, from fruits and vegetables grown in the garden.
Memorable Model Moment
Laguna's most memorable moment was walking the first Victoria’s Secret show in 2011. She wasn’t convinced when her agent told her to go for casting as she felt she wasn’t curvy or feminine enough to be considered. She was ecstatic when she was confirmed to walk in the show, and has continued to walk for the last 4 years.
