Fernanda Tavares was born in Natal, Rio Grande de Norte in Brazil on September 22, 1980 and is a well-known Brazilian model. At just 9 years, she had appeared on several local shows and by the age of 13 she emerged as the winner of the Elite Look of the Year contest.
She was then invited to go to Sao Paulo to pursue a full-fledged career in modeling. By 1998, when Fernanda was 17, she had already appeared on the covers of several fashion magazines like Vogue Paris, U.S. Marie Claire and L'Officiel Paris. She had also signed up to become a model with the New York and Paris-based Marilyn Modeling Agency. Since then, her fame soared as she appeared in numerous popular fashion magazines like Sports Illustrated, Allure, Cosmopolitan and Elle.
Fernanda has also worked with several notable designers across the world, including names like Versace, Chanel, Chloe, Blumarine, Prada, Salvatore Ferragamo, John Galliano, Sonia Rykiel, Christian Lacroix, Emanuel Ungaro, Missoni, Gap and Herve Leger. She has promoted brands like Giorgio Armani, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Nine West and others and was one of the top models in the Ralph Lauren spring collection in 2000.
Fernanda signed a whopping deal worth $1.3 million to become the face of perfume company Guerlain. She has also appeared in several Victoria’s Secret catalogs and their fashion shows across the years. She has appeared for anti-fur ads on behalf of PETA. She hosts an MTB Brazil show Missao MTV. Apart from modeling, Fernanda is an avid jogger and swimmer.
