Caroline Ribeiro Magalhaes was born in the Amazon area of Belem do Para, Brazil on September 20, 1980. She grew up surrounded by family and speaks of many treasured memories. Caroline had plans to become a well-known fashion model. She moved to Sao Paulo as a teenager and worked as a model for about three years. When she realized it was going nowhere fast, she decided to give Paris a try. She managed to get a few modeling jobs there, but it still was not the break she needed. In 1996, she married Paulo Rego and was on Anjo de Mim, a television show, as a guest. Eventually, she landed in New York and succeeded at getting signed with the Marilyn Agency in 1999.
The Talents of Caroline
One of her first runway shows was in Paris where she walked for, amongst others, Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton and Givenchy. She did not return to the runway again until 2003, other than the Victoria Secrets annual show. There would be another span of 5 years with her final runway appearance in 2008, in New York for Oscar De la Renta.
Caroline was not on the runway, but she was busy with editorials in magazines all over the world. Publications like Vogue Italian, German, French and Spanish magazines, for several years in succession. Harper's Bazaar, Allure as well as Italian Flair and Vanity Flair, also interviewed her.
Ad campaigns were another niche for Caroline. Beginning with Max Factor in the year 2000 and Chanel in 2001, her face was familiar all over the country. In addition to cosmetic ads, she did fashion campaigns for Gucci, Oscar De lARenta, and Louis Vuitton spring and fall collections. Towards the end of 2001 and through 2003, she appeared in Gap and Valentino promotions while simultaneously representing Clairol. The year ended with a few more substantial ad promos.
Her story is of actress turned model and back again. In 1995, she was in Young Hearts, followed by a guest spot on Anjo de Mim television shows. From here she turned to modeling and in 2005, she was acting again in Lower City.
Caroline took enough time off work to give birth to her son, Joao Felipe in February 2004. For the first year of her life, she only worked for EscadaParfun and did one editorial. She is married to Paulo Rego, Joao is their only child and it soon became clear that her best time would be reserved for them.
Other than the 2008 catwalk, Caroline did mostly ad campaigns, more editorials and added her flawless face to Calvin Klein's Fragrance collection in 2009.
