Allegra Dewi Carpenter was born in 1990 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. At the ripe young age of two months, her and her family moved to Bali, which is where she spent most of her time growing up. Later in life, Carpenter received her high school diploma in Perth of Western Australia. Just a few years later, she moved to Los Angeles in order to receive her tertiary education, while also pursuing a career in both modeling and acting.
After winning the Vivien's Perth Model Search in 2005, she then signed with Mega Agency. Allegra Carpenter made her modeling debut by strutting down the runway during the Australian Fashion Week for the spring Aurelio Costarella and Alex Perry shows. She gained a lot of attention for her natural modeling abilities, therefore, towards the end of the same year, she made a major career move by signing with IMG Paris.
In 2007, she appeared in an Editorial for Australian Harper's Bazaar and Vogue. Allegra took a short, two-year break for personal reasons but made her comeback when she was photographed by Terry Richardson for French Connection. During her break from modeling, Models.com features Carpenter as she made her arrival in New York City.
Over the years, Allegra Carpenter has modeled for advertisements for a handful of different companies, including Lee Riders and Live Clothing as well as the Aurelio Costarella Lookbook. As a model, she is well-known for her eyes as well as her pout, which many designers have referred to as seductively stunning.
In addition to modeling, Allegra Carpenter also has a strong passion for acting on the big screen. She is most well-known for her role in the 2012 film Argo, where she played a British Airways Flight Attendant. Carpenter also had roles several other movies, including Dean Slater: Resident Advisor and the hit blockbuster film The Fault in Our Stars, where she played a restaurant hostess. Furthermore, she made several small appearances in the television show Touch in 2012 as a character named Celeste.
Allegra Carpenter has stated that if she had not pursued a career in modeling, she would have become a graphic designer. She may not have a career in the field, but she still spends a large portion of her spare time designer various works of art on her computer. Furthermore, Carpenter also enjoys traveling, photography and trying new, exotic foods.
