Stephanie Seymour

Stephanie Seymour (b. July 23, 1968) is an American model and actress who has appeared in many notable fashion campaigns throughout her career. Her acting career includes the role of Helen Frankenthaler in the film Pollack (2000) and guest starring in an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2002). She was most prominent during the late 1980s and early 1990s when she posed for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and appeared on the cover of Vogue. Seymour is featured in the Guns N’ Roses music videos for “Don’t Cry” and “November Rain,” which earned her much notoriety and helped to launch her into acting. She also modeled lingerie for Victoria’s Secret and was photographed for Playboy in March 1991 and February 1993, earning her a reputation as one of the most sought after models of the era. In 1998, Seymour wrote the book Stephanie Seymour’s Beauty Secrets for Dummies. More recently, she was prominently featured in Salvatore Farragamo’s fall/winter 2007/2008 campaign, and in 2009 she became the face of Valentino. Seymour is now semi-retired.

Seymour has appeared in advertisements for Barneys, Roger Dubuis Watches, Estee Lauder, Jason Wu, Valentino, Marc Jacobs, Gap Artist Editions, Loewe, Dior, Ellen Tracy, Sisley, Louis Vuitton, and Chantelle. She was featured in Nigel Barker’s 2015 book Models of Influence, and in 2014 appeared in editorials in Vanity Fair Italy, Vogue Japan, and Love Magazine.

Seymour is well known for her romantic life, beginning with her attachment to John Casablancas, head of Elite Model Management, when she was 16 years old. She was married to guitarist Tommy Andrews from 1989-1990, then began dating Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses in mid-1991. The two went their separate ways after back and forth allegations of infidelity and assault in 1993. Seymour then began dating Peter Brant, a wealthy real estate developer and publisher. They married in 1995. In 2009, Seymour filed for divorce, but the couple reunited in 2010. She has four children, Dylan Thomas Andrews, Peter Brant II, Harry, and Lily Margaret. Seymour enjoys travel and is very involved in the world of art collecting, and is known for her glamorous lifestyle.

She recently appeared in Vogue with a slideshow focusing on her career and achievements, and regularly gives interviews and appears throughout photo spreads in various fashion publications. A recent Harper’s Bazaar piece from February 2014 showcased Seymour with her two sons, Peter Jr. and Harry. The family is very active in artistic circles in New York, and Seymour maintains close ties to the fashion and art worlds. Seymour has also posed on the covers of Vogue Paris, i-D, Interview, Gang Magazine, and Vogue Japan since 2012, remaining an influential presence in the media even though she now chooses to keep a lower profile and focus on her domestic life. She is often cited as an influence by younger models who grew up admiring her career, and maintains many contacts in the fashion industry.

Seymour primarily works through IMG.
