In 1998 Oluchi Onweagba won the M-Net Face of Africa competition and won a contract with Elite Model Management worth $150 000. She then made her debut for Marc Bouwer, she was chosen as the new face for Nars Cosmetics, she was on the cover of Vogue and she walked the runway for Christian Dior, Chanel, Gucci and Tommy Hilfiger in Milan, Paris and New York.
In 1999 she appeared in print ads and on billboards for Gap and she was photographed for a spread in Vogue.
In 2000 she was on the cover of British Surface.
In 2001 she walked the fall show for Christian Dior couture in Paris.
In 2002 she walked in the Victoria’s Secret show.
In 2004 she signed a contract for CoverGirl, she walked the fall show for John Galliano in Paris, she modeled the catalogue for Bergdorf Goodman, she modeled the catalogue for Victoria’s Secret, she walked the fall shows for Tommy Hilfiger and Kenneth Cole in New York, she was in print ads for Lancôme and she was in the film After the Sunset.
In 2006 she was in Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue and she was the lead model for the GM 2007 Cadillac Escalade fashion show.
In 2007 she was part of an ad campaign for Bergdorf Goodman.
In 2008 she was in Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, she was on the fall cover of Pop and she appeared in two editorials for Elle as well as in editorials for Vogue, Pop, V and Harper’s Bazaar.
In 2009 she was in an editorial for Love Magazine and was on the cover of Arise Magazine.
In 2013 she appeared in an ad campaign for JC Penny and she was on the cover of Elle South Africa.
In 2014 she was in an ad campaign for Charity Campaign.
