Nieves Alvarez
Nelvis Alvarez, born on 30th January 1974 in Madrid, Spain, is an actress. She was discovered at the age of 17 by a photographer and a friend who later gave her the chance to present at the Agency Bookings in Madrid. Some months down the line, she appeared on the cover of Telva Magazine, which was a good start of beginning of her successful career in the modelling career.
She has been featured in various fashion events in major and most famous fashion magazines including Spanish and French Vogue magazines as well as UK and French Elle magazines.
In 2012, Nieves won the famous “Look of the Year” contest organized by Ragazza magazine in Madrid and came third in the international finals held in New York. For the first time, she was featured on the cover of US Glamour Magazine in 1994 and reappeared on the covers of five further magazines.
She also participated in the worldwide “Winter 1995 Wolford” and Swarovski campaigns which resulted in further growth of her global prestige. The same year, brand Missoni made Nieves the face of 1995 spring summer fashion show using her pictures. Still on the same year, her career took a new turn after a quite risky haircut that earned her the cover of French Elle magazine and a statute of Hermes muse.
From 2005 to 2011, Alvarez featured in Astor's campaign. The same year she had her first child, named Adriano with Italian photographer Marco Severini. Two years later, she got twins Brando and Bianca.
She also in a number of cover magazines including Spanish Glamour Magazine together with Jose Mari Manzanares, the great bullfighter. James White was in charge of the photo shoot.
In 2012, she began a new chapter of an exciting challenge in her career when she started to host “Flash Moda” program on 1 for TVE (Spanish National Television). The program was directed by a journalist Jesús Maria Montes-Fernández, where current trends, affairs, culture and everything involving fashion world is discussed.
In 2014, Alvarez appeared again in Paris “Haute Counture” together with designer Stephane Rolland. She also starred in a short film called “L'ECHAPPEE” with the actor Jalil Lespert. In November the same year, she was featured on the cover of VIEW magazine with Rafa Gallar, a photographer where she later signed a contract with “ROCHAS”, to become the perfume Ambassador for the Christmas season campaign.
After that, followed other major campaigns with famous designers throughout the world including Giorgia Armani, Christian Lacroix, Prada, Oscar De La Renta, Gianfranco Ferre, Herve Leger, Paco Rabanne, and Emauel Ungaro in Milan, New York and Paris.
Alvarez also embarked on various ventures. In 2010, she became the designer of N + V Villalobos + Nieves Alvarez (nmasv.com) a children's brand, creating a perfect collection of clothes for children aged 2 to 12 years that is available in multi-brand shops and many more department stores in Madrid.
Up to today, she has been the face of the glasses “Translations” which provide protection and comfort of your eyes and have an added advantage of being able to accommodate to any fitting. Also, she has collaborated with the Carmen Pardo Valcarcel, whose main focus is to help young disabled people. Alvarez has been elected by the city of Aranjuez “Amotinada Mayor” for her dedicated love for social work in teaching people about the risks and dangers of anorexia.
