Lakshmi Menon started modeling so that she could earn some money whilst she was studying sociology at Bangalore University.
After college she began to model full time in India. Her international career started in 2006 after Jean Paul Gaultier saw her work in an Indian magazine. This led to work for Hermes, H&M, Givenchy, Max Mara, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom and others.

In 2006 Lakshmi Menon began to model in India.
In 2007 she appeared in an ad campaign for Swatch, she was on the cover of Indian Vogue, she walked the spring shows for Hermes and Jean Paul Gaultier in Paris and appeared in an editorial for Indian Vogue.
In 2008 Lakshmi Menon became the face for Hermes and she signed with Ford Models New York. She was on the covers for L’Officiel and Indian Vogue. She walked the fall shows in New York and Paris for Issey Miyake, Stella McCartney and Zero Maris, she appeared in an editorial for L’Officiel France, she walked the spring show in Paris for Jean Paul Gaultier menswear, she opened the fall show for Givenchy couture in Paris, she was part of the H&M Holiday ad campaign and walked her first New York fashion week and closed the spring show for Ohne Titel.

In 2010 Lakshmi Menon left Ford Models and went on to sign with Supreme Management. She then walked for Derek Lam, Carolina Herrera, Erin Wasson x RVCA, Diane von Furstenberg, Lacoste and VPL in New York, she appeared in an editorial for V, Dazed & Confused, Vogue Spain, Vogue and Elle, and she walked the spring shows for Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta and Ohne Titel in New York.
In 2012 she was on the cover of Italian Elle and Grazia Italy
In 2013, Lakshmi Menon appeared in editorials for Vogue India, Elle India and CR Fashion Book; she was on the cover of Elle India and walked for Givenchy, Giorgio Armani and Cushnie et Ochs.
