Personal Life

Jon Kortajarena Redruello is a Spanish model and actor born on 19th May 1985 in Bilbao, Vizcaya, Pais Vasco, Spain. Jon Kortajarena speaks Spanish, English and Euskera. He attended Ikastola School until he attained the age of 10 years. He later enrolled in a private Catholic school. When he was not modeling, he was acting but he emphasizes that interior design and photography were two fields he was always curious to know. He loves reading books by Hermann Hesse, watching films, hiking, listening to music and sunbathing. He describes himself as an ultimate romantic.

Career

Jon Kortajarena is known for such films such as A Single Man (2009), Versus and Hombre 2000 (2014). He was discovered when moving to Barcelona, Spain when he accompanied his friend who had invited him for a fashion show. Jon Kortajarena ventured in the fashion industry in September 2013. First, back in Spain Robert Verino offered him his first job in Cibeles however his international career expanded weeks later after Ellen Von Unwerth used his image for Cavalli's younger life.

He always dreamt of going to NYC, and that's where he choose. Steven Miesel together with other top models (R.J. or Tyson Ballou) put together some incredible photos of him for Versace. Such Basque was received in most international runways, which made him even more famous little by little until he became one of the main references in the shows he starred in. He has appeared in shows of famous people like Karl Lagerfeld, Jean Paul Gaultier, John Galliano, Giorgia Armani, Ferre, Dolce & Gabbana, and Cavalli.

Jon appeared in a commercial for the sugar-free, Fanta Z Mediterraneo, which was a TV advert in 2005 which was meant to make fun of the departed Fanta Lite. Its content drew complaints in Britain and eventually it was restricted. In 2007, he was chosen to star in seven different campaigns with the most famous fashion brands. In the same year, he signed with GUESS and later renewed the contract in 2008. With all the new campaigns on the stand, Terry Richardson took the opportunity to photograph Jon Kortajarena for Tom Ford alongside Noah Mills becoming the signature of the label for the next consecutive seasons. In 2008, he was appeared on the cover of L'Official Hommes magazine, with a cover with a title reading, “200 Pages of Fashion with Jon Kortajarena.”

This marked the first time a male model had achieved such an opportunity which became a reference in the industry. In 2009, Jon features in the men's wear and eyewear advertising campaigns directed and photographed by Tom Ford himself. On June the same year, Forbes published its list of The World's 10 Most Successful Male Models and ranked Joh in the 8th Place. In November 2009, Kortajarena was named the Model of the Year by the German GO while Spain's Marie Claire awarded him as the Best Spanish Model for 2009.

He appears in most famous fashion magazines including POP, Vman, V Magazine, GQ, and Vogue Homme. Come year 2010, Jon featured in campaigns for True Trussardi, H&M and Esprit. He modelled alongside Alex Chung for Pepe Jeans winter campaign. He also featured in the Next autumn/winter campaign as well as its TV adverts that were launched on 10th September alongside Emanuela de Paula. Jon's HM campaign has travelled most parts of the world via TV with huge images of him posing together with Daria Werbowy and Anja Rubik, who are top models.

In 2011, he was chosen as one of the models to feature in Lacoste's new advertising concept named, “Unconventional Chic”. Marcus and Mert shot the advert with the models wearing iconic white Lacoste polo shirts. He also appeared on the cover of Cogue Spain alongside Anja Rubik and Andres Velencoso. On the same year, Kortajarena was chosen as the protagonist for the video version of Roberto Cavalli Men's runway.

Well, one of the most thrilling and most satisfying job according to him is the one he does with, “The Climate Project” where together with Al Gore, the vice president of U.S has chosen him to become the face of the foundation dubbed, “The Climate Project” in Latin America and Spain. After the Climate Project, Kortajarena engaged himself in the campaign called “Shows Red Card to Abuser” which is against domestic violence. This campaign was launched by Spanish Ministry of Equality.
