Born in Brasschaat, Antwerp on the 27th of December 1989, Jill Bauwens is a Belgian fashion model who is well known for her luscious hair and statuesque legs. Bauwens measures 5’10.5’’ in height, has light brown hair, blue eyes and has measurements of 30 bust, 24 waist and 33.5 hips with a size 9 shoe and size 4 dress.
Bauwens’ career in the fashion industry began almost by complete chance in the year 2007, aged sixteen years old. She was discovered whilst walking on the Meir, Antwerp’s largest shopping street, by modeling talent scout Tom Van Dorpen.
Shortly after this initial discovery, Bauwens was signed with Elite Model Management in Paris, and the following year she made her runway debut in Paris, walking Nina Ricci as part of her 2008 spring show. Bauwens walked again for Nina Ricci in a pre-fall show in 2008, having recently signed with Ford Models in New York City.
2008 proved to be a hugely successful debut year for Bauwens, especially on the runway. During this twelve months, the young model walked a spring show in Paris for Anne Valeria Hash couture, and she made further appearances in New York, Milan and Paris for a number of high profile designers and houses such as Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen, Fendi, Vera Wang and Marni.
The fashion really began to pay attention to Bauwens as a result of this runway prominence, and the model was featured in Vmagazine.com in April 2008 in a ‘model of the week’ story, cementing her very swift rise to the top of certain modeling circles.
Bauwens’ career has seen her enjoy success in both the walking and print sides of the modelling industry, but it would be fair to say that her exploits on the runway are indicative of her very best work. Since 2008, Bauwens has opened the resort Nina Ricci New York, closed the Danielle Scutt fall show in London, and walked for many of the industry’s top names in Paris including Christian Lacroix, Elie Saab and Chanel.
