Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on the 15th of January 1987, Jesus Luz is a South American male fashion model who is well known for his muscular and toned body. Luz measures 6’0’’ in height, has dark brown hair, green eyes and is a suit size 40 and a size 11 shoe.
The son of a Rio de Janeiro public official and a hairdresser, Luz’s career in the fashion industry began in 2005 when he signed his first modeling contract with 40 Graus Models.
Luz subsequently began a business relationship with Sergio Mattos, with whom he worked for a solid period of three years. Luz’s debut modeling engagement came in his hometown in 2007 when he was hired to take part in Fashion Rio 2007, and this cemented his ambitions to become a leading figure in the world of male modeling.
In 2006 he made the decision to further his career outside of Brazil, and made an initial trip to New York City for six months, living with a family member and taking the opportunity to learn the English language.
Luz began to become a well known face in Spanish speaking countries when he was cast to play a small part in the Latino series Pegadoras which was shown on Rede Globo, and the attention spawned from this new found celebrity lead to the model being signed to an incredibly lucrative contract with Ford Models, at this point being made one of the highest paid male models in the world.
Luz’s first large scale international engagement came when he was selected by Steven Klein to pose alongside pop superstar Madonna in a photo shoot for W magazine. It was at this point that Luz and Madonna began to have a romantic relationship, which further cast the model in to the international spotlight and made him a household name.
Since 2009, Luz has featured on the summer cover of L’Officiel Hommes magazine, become one of the leading faces of D&G ad campaigns, been photographed by Tom Munro for Pepe Jeans, appeared in an editorial for Interview magazine shot by Mikael Jansson and walked in Milan Fashion week as a exclusive model for Dolce & Gabbana.
