Inga Eiriksdottir

Inga Eiriksdottir is a successful plus-size model in the fashion and beauty industry. She was born in 1984, in Reykjavik, Iceland. She currently lives in New York City. She has been modeling for 13 years. She has worked with Liz Claibourne, Russian Vogue, V Magazine and Ralph Lauren. She’s best known for her skin, smile and curves. She’s currently represented by Ford Models.

She has also posed in advertisements for BCBG Max Azaria, Clarins, Great Lengths and Elena Miro.

She was first discovered in a pizza parlor by a modeling scout in Iceland. The agent wanted her to move immediately to London to work as a model, but her parents thought she was too young and would not allow it.

At age 15, she moved to London and began her modeling career. Around the same time she was told by an agency in New York City that she needed to slim down from a size 8 to a size 0. She was 5’ 11” at the time. The agency pressured her by telling her that she would never succeed with her current weight but she wouldn’t take no for an answer.

She made a splash posing for German Elle in 2004.

Most recently in January 2015, Eiriksdottir continued to push through plus-size barriers in modeling by posing for an activewear shot for Bust Magazine. All models that participated were considered to be plus-size by those in the industry. The other models include Ashley Graham, Julie Henderson, Marquita Pring, and Danielle Redman. The purpose of the shoot was to continue to promote confidence in women of any size and remind them that health should always take priority over anything else.

As far as Eiriksdottir’s personal life goes, she has a pet parrot named Dolly Parton and is currently in a relationship which she tries to keep private. Health and fitness are very important to her. She practices yoga religiously and takes Omega-3 every morning.
