Freja Beha Erichsen was discovered on the streets of Denmark (her native country) by a model agency worker when passing by. She made her debut in the modeling world in the fall of 2005 Paris, and Milan show hosted by Miu Miu, Prada, and Louis Vuitton shows (which she was nominated to open). After that, Erichsen continued to walk the runways of Milan, New York, London and Paris, both in Haute Couture and Ready-to-wear seasons. She has been nominated to walk for Balenciaga, Zac Posen, Lanvin, Sonia Rykiel, Christian Lacroix and Versace among others. Beha has featured in advertising campaigns for big companies such as Jil Sander, Harry Winston, H&M, Gerrg Jensen, Balenciaga, Hugo Boss, Gucci,, Hermes, CK By Calvin Klein, Channel, Isabel, Marant, Pringle of Scotland, Roberto Cavalli, Gianfranco, Chloe, Emporio Armani, MaxMara, Pollini, Jaeger, Valentino, GAP, Prada, Tom Ford and Prada eyes wear. Beha is among the faces of Gucci, a fragrance manufactured by Gucci alongside Raquel Zimmermann and Natasha Poly. She has won contracts to star in all Television advertisement directed by Lynch David. Freja has also served as the face of CK fragrance brand; the IN2U. Towards the end of 2011, she was nominated as the new face of Valentina fragrance manufactured by Valentino. Freja has featured in editorials for a plethora of fashion magazines including Interview Magazine, American, Italian , German, Chinese, Korean, Australian, British, French and the American editions of Vogue, Russian and American Harper’s Bazaar, Purple, V, i-D and Korean and French Numero. She has graced the front covers of many fashion magazines including Vogue Paris, British Vogue, Korean and British Numero, V, i-D, and W Magazine and the South Korean, Portuguese, Chinese, and Japanese edition of Vogue. In the 1st quarter of 2008, James Scully, a casting agent, said the following about Erichsen,” “She is the queen of beauty and cool. Probably the most booked model of all my client. Freja is a perfect old traditional clothes-hanger with a bit of 80s androgyny thrown in.” Beha has had several fashion items named after her, including Chloe Freja Clutch, Jill Stuart Freja handbag, and Alexander Wang Freja Stiletto Boot. Rising to the height of her Career, she was ranked number two in the Top 50 Female Models list by Models.com, just behind Natasha Poly. From October 2013, Erichsen has been listed among the industries Icons. In fact, Vogue Paris named her one of the most loved models of the 2000s. A photo of Freja (photographed by Karl Lagerfeld) was featured in the 2012 edition of Pirelli Calendar. The chief editor of the magazine said, “Erishsen is part of our history when it comes to forces that have marked our Magazines’ rise to fame.” She also featured in Vogue UK covers marking the celebration of the most famous wedding; the royal wedding.
She has been featured in numerous editions of Vogue magazine including Vogue Italia in November and March of 2010, Vogue Paris on November 2005, August 2010, and May 2013. British Vogue on August 2010, also to its Mar 2009 and September 2010 editions. She appeared on the cover of Korean on Mar 2009 and Sept 2010, the Japanese Vogue on Nov 2008 and Feb 2009, the Chinese Vogue on Jun 2006, the Portuguese Vogue on May 2007 and the Brazilian Vogue on Mar 2011. As of today, Erichsen is famous as Vogue cover girl and for her androgynous look. “When you look at her, the first view is that of tough boyishness, but then there emerges something more, a softer side, sensitive side of her,” tells Josh Olins, Vogue photographer in the Aug 2014 issue of the Vogue. “Erichsen is beautifully and truly androgynous.” She is the daughter of 2 lawyers and was born on Oct 18th, 1987 in a town known as Roskilde in Denmark. She has one brother who is seven years older than her. She regularly describes herself as a tomboy and she admits that, during her early years, she liked climbing trees and riding bikes up the mountains. By the time she was twelve years old, Beha had already hit 5 foot nine and by the time she was 17 years old, she was discovered by fashion and modelling agent who had just driven past her. Later in 2004, she signed with the IMG. Freja has a total of sixteen tattoos; one has the word “Float” written across her neck, a phrase “This too shall come and pass” written on her upper arm, “Serendipity is life” scribbled on the back side of her right hand, “The Universe is mine tonight” engraved on her right-hand wrist and the word “Redemption” scribbled on her upper left-hand side forearms. By the end of 2010, Erichsen had appeared in a total of nineteen fashion campaigns; the first was with Jil Sander on 2015 followed by Chloe, Roberto Cavalli, Gucci, and Pringle. Surprisingly, during her first year of modeling, Beha made it to the cover page of the French Vogue, which later in 2008 named her among the Top 30 models of all times. She posed for a cover photo by Vinoodh Matadin and Inez Lamsweerde for the summer 2010 edition of the Purple Magazine. “The shoot,” she said, “Was meant to challenge the old held ideals of feminine beauty.” Away from fashion and modeling, Beha is a talented singer, and she plays Piano, drums, and the guitar. She loves blues including Rolling Stones and Zeppelin and rock ‘n’ roll. Currently, she is based in New York but she says she hopes to move back to Denmark she even purchased a house there. She featured in a total of 43 shows during Autumn-Winter season for brands such as Chanel and Oscar de la Renta. She was nominated to open the 2010 Valentino Culture Show. Erishsen attended Frederiksberg Gymnasium secondary school. She has long lasting friendship with fellow fashion models Arizona Muse, Irina Lazareanu, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Arizona, Lily Donaldson, Raquel Zimmerman, Coco Rocha, Agyness Deyn. Beha has also had a short relationship with the Australia-based models; Catherine McNeil.
