Filippa Palmstierna Hamilton was born on December 3, 1985 in Paris and was raised in Biarritz in France. She is a model with Swedish and French descent. At the tender age of 15, she was discovered on the Parisian streets by the famous French photographer Marc Hispard. Her first major advertising campaign breakthrough came at the age of 16 for the Ralph Lauren brand. Her penetrating blue eyes and long blonde hair caught the attention of the fashion immediately, as she quickly rose to fame on the international modeling circuit. In 2001, she signed on with Next Management. In 2001, she walked in the spring collection for the Ralph Lauren and Jill Stuart shows in New York.
Filippa had been a regular fixture on most of Ralph Lauren’s fashion shows and collections from the time she was 17. She was also the face of Romance, a signature Ralph Lauren fragrance and had the privilege to be photographed by Bruce Weber. She has also been photographed by famous photographers like Gilles Bensimon, Paolo Roversi, Terry Richardson, Inez van Lamsweerde, Arthur Elgort and Mario Testino. She has been credited in 2014 in the July Elle Italy magazine and has also appeared in AMICA Italy magazine in January 2013. In 2002, she also featured on the cover of Spanish Vogue magazine.
Her agencies include Next Model Management in Paris, View Management in Spain, Mikas in Stockholm, Next Model Management in Milan and Next Model Management in New York.
She got into a bit of controversy in 2009 when a photo shopped picture of her appeared for a Ralph Lauren ad, where she appeared unconvincingly thin. Her hips and a waist were made to look smaller than her head. The ad was ridiculed and criticized across the world for distorting the true image of the body of a woman.
Apart from modeling, Filipa has always enjoyed painting and spending quality time with friends when she wasn’t traveling somewhere in the world on her modeling assignments. She generally travels for work-related events with her mother, Beatrice Hamilton who is a jewelry and clothing designer.
