Swedish model Dorothea Barth Jorgensen was born November 6th, 1990 in Stockholm, Sweden. Even at an early age, people were taking notice of Jorgensen’s beautiful appearance. Jorgensen was told by many that she should pursue a career as a model but just shrugged off the thought of being one for the majority of her younger life. It was not until she decided to take part in the Elite Model Look contest in 2007 and she ended up winning first place that she actually seriously considered modeling as a career. It was a consideration that has worked out well for the Swedish model, as she would go on to have a very profitable career that still continues to this day. After winning the contest she signed on with Elite, and stayed with them until she turned eighteen. Two years after winning the Elite Model contest, Jorgensen made her modeling debut on one of the grandest of stages. Her first runway was at New York Fashion Week in February of 2009, where she managed to make a big impression that would serve as the driving force behind her early career. While there, Jorgensen walked for BCBG Max Azria, Calvin Klein, Jonathan Saunders, Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler. Today, the modeling world knows her for hazel eyes, pink lips and her unique style. When she is not busy with work, Jorgensen likes to listen to Patti Smith, design clothes and go on vintage shopping trips looking for unique items. As of 2015, she works primarily with Victoria Secret and continues to appear in their shows.
After her huge success in New York that same month she got the privilege to open for a few designers in Milan, such as Prada, Jil Sander, Missoni and Pringle of Scotland. She then traveled to Paris to close for Anne Valerie Hash and got to walk for Chanel, Dries Van Noten, Kenzo, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu. During her first season ever she walked in forty different shows and was been ranked on fashion websites as on of the “top ten newcomers” in the industry.
After this flurry of involvement, at the age of eighteen, Jorgensen moved to New York and signed on with a new agency called Women Management. In 2009 and 2012 she walked for the televised Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and still works with them today. She has been featured in many Vogues around the world such Spains, Italy’s, Japan’s and British. Jorgenson has also done advertising for designers such as Burberry, H &M and Vera Wang.
