Charlene Almarvez

Charlene Almarvez, born in the Philippines in 1994, was discovered by a director at fashion week while attending a religious ceremony in 2009. The same year she entered and won the Ford modeling competition and was named Ford Supermodel of the World Philippines. In 2010, she entered the contest again and was first runner up, but this time she signed her first modeling contract with Ford.

The Newcomer

Her first year and she was walking the runways of New York for designers like Diane Von Furstenberg, Peter Som, and Rachel Comey. V magazine published an editorial and later that year she walked for Diane Von Furstenberg again.

In 2011, she did ready to wear fashion shows for autumn/winter, and spring/summer and one resort show for Lela Rose and Dian Von Furstenberg. In 2012, she repeated this performance and was published in Vogue Italia.

There was a lapse in appearances due to working visa related problems, but the magazine editorials and ad campaigns kept her in the limelight. Circus was one of her first advertising spots, then Sam Edelman's new shoes collection in 2015.

Life changing

Even though Charlene, or Chat as some call her, has had a few delays getting visas to work in Europe and the U.S. she has managed to overcome most of those. She said she has not been home since she won the Ford contest and realizes this is a life changing adventure. She loves traveling, a few specific restaurants in New York and the magazine editorials. Her plans for the future include catwalks for the most famous designers’ at the most famous shows. If that doesn’t work out she will complete her studies in business and continue to play her favorite sport -volleyball.
