The young but highly talented and beautiful Austria Alcantara was born in San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic, in 1992. Her career began just like any other young girl, dreaming to become a model one day and walking on the runways of Paris, Milan, London, and New York. It was her beauty and stylish personality that led to her winning her first modeling contest at the age of 15. A year later, Austria Alcantara entered the ‘Ford Supermodel of the World Event’ where she finished second, losing to Hyoni Kang, a famous Korean model. Despite this, she remained confident and continued following her dream and passion of becoming a supermodel one day. Besides, losing the Ford Supermodel Contest actually turned out to be a good thing for her, as she managed to sign with IMG! Yes, you heard that right. Austria even though was only 16 years old at that time, landed a deal with IMG, which is considered the ‘Rolls Royce’ of all modeling agencies. The show premiered in August ’08 on Vogue.tv and soon enough Austria Alcantara became a huge success in the fashion industry. In fact, even the best of photographers think she’s absolutely amazing on camera. In 2009, she was also featured in Teen Vogue and a year later appeared in Elle Editorial (Photographed by David Armstrong) and Summer Issue of 10 (Photographed by Laurie Bartley. By the age of 18, Austria was making $9,000 in just three hours and now has managed to become one of the top models in the fashion industry.
