Family and Early Life

Ana Beatriz Barros was born on May 29, 1982 in the small town of Itabira, Minas Gerais. Her mother was a housewife and her father was a mechanical engineer. She is the youngest of three sisters. Her older sister Patricia is also a well-known model. When she was just a few years old, they moved to Rio de Janeiro, which is where she spent the rest of her childhood.

Modeling Career

At the age of 13, Ana and her sister Patricia were on a vacation where they caught the eye of a representative from Elite Model Management. She was encouraged to compete in the Elite Model Look of 1996, which she was runner up next to Diana Kovalchuk. Elite then sent her portfolio to GUESS?. This lead to her modeling for the Millenium Guess campaign.

She moved to New York in 1996 and became the face of Baby Phat in 2000. Ana made her debut at the fall Christian Dior, Christian Lacroix and Valentino shows in Paris. 2001 began with her appeared in an Elle editorial. During the same ear, she walked for Victoria's Secret for the first time and shortly after, appeared in their catalogue.

After storming onto the scene, she began appearing in countless advertising campaigns. Ana has done ads for Chanel cosmetics, Jennifer Lopez's JLO fashion Line, Oakley, Armani Jeans, Christian Dior and much more. In addition, she has appeared in runway shows for Michael Kors, Dolce & Gabbana, Emporio Armani, Missoni, DKNY and BCBG. She walked in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009.

Ana Beatriz Barros has also appeared on the covers of numerous magazines, including Vogue, Marie Claire, Allure and Glamour. Furthermore, she has appeared seven times on the Swimsuit Issue of Sports Illustrated. In 2006, she was ranked #96 on FHM magazine's annual “100 Sexiest Women in the World.”

In 2010, she replaced Lindsay Lohan for Fornarina's Spring Summer campaign. Between the years of 2005 and 2008, she was an ambassador for Intimissimi, an Italian lingerie line. In August of 2014, she announced she would again serve as ambassadors for Intimissimi.
