Aminata Niaria

Most models are scouted by an agent, however, Aminata Niaria was discovered by a popular Lanvin designer known as Alber Elbaz while she was enjoying a simple lunch at McDonald's. She was born on November 16, 1985 in Senegal. Niaria was discovered early in the year 2006 and has been modeling ever since then.

Earling Modeling Career

Shortly after being discovered, Aminata Niaria signed with Viva Models late in 2006 and then made her debut at the spring Lanvin show in Paris. In 2007, she walked for countless designers, including Dries Van Noten, Louis Vuitton, Vivienne Westwood and Roberto Cavalli. She also was photographed by Stéphane Gallois for an editorial in French Glamour.

Early in 2008, she walked the spring Guy Laroche couture show as well as the fall shows for Vivienne Westwood and Veronique Branquinho. Niaria also modeled for the H&M spring catalog. Soon after, she left Viva Models and signed with IMG worldwide. She finished off the year by appearing in a German Vogue editorial that was photographed by Koto Bolofo.

The Later Years

Aminata Niaria had one of her busiest years in 2009. In addition to modeling for the Emanuel Ungaro fall advertising campaign, she also waked the fall shows for Isaac Mizrahi, Oscar de la Renta, Vera Wang, Fendi and Karl Lagerfeld. Just a few months later, Niaria was photographed by Andrea Spotorno for the spring addition of AnOther Magazine.

Furthermore, in 2009 she was on the spring cover of French Revue de Modes and walked the spring shows for Derek Lam, Michael Kors, Dries van Noten and Viktor & Rolf in Paris, Milan and New York. In November, she walked the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

During 2010, Niaria was photographed by Annie Leibovitz for the fall Jones New York ad campaign. She appeared in an all-black model spread for Italian Vogue in February of 2001, alongside Chanel Iman and Jourdan Dunn. In the same month, she appeared in yet another Vogue editorial, alongside Laurence Dennis, who was also her boyfriend at the time.

Personal Life

Aminata Niaria has stated that she is inspired by fellow model Naomi Campbell. She has also said that if she was not a model, that she would pursue a career in graphic design. Her favorite designers are Ralph Lauren, Lanvin, Givenchy and Rodarte. As a little girl, Aminata Niaria has the desire to grow up and become a lawyer.
